We went from upper crust to straight out burnt. Carbs talked a lot about change. Always buttering me up with new fresh-baked lies...and ziti. And I fell for them more than once.

Things were serious hot out of the oven. A bagel in the morning. A sandwich for lunch. A baguette with spaghetti at dinner. I didn’t even realize just how much carbs were hanging around, but it was like I couldn’t get enough.

When I tried to bring up where this was all going—though that was obvious from the scale—carbs didn’t want to hear it. When I mentioned taking a break, a low-carb diet, trying keto, they just kept finding new ways to sneak onto the plate, claiming they were changed: organic, whole grain, whole wheat. But it was all the same.
