Our Founder - Jeanne David
Jeanne David is the Founder, Head of Product Development and President of Outer Aisle Gourmet, LLC.
Jeanne is a born entrepreneur and loves creating ideas for new products. She started her first business at the age of ten! Jeanne founded several small businesses, the most successful of which brought a line of natural food products to market in Louisiana.
The idea for OAG’s cauliflower sandwich thins/tortillas and pizza crust was born from the decision by Jeanne and her husband, Dan, a few years ago to change the way they ate by cutting out sugar and processed carbs and increasing vegetables in their diets. To avoid the blandness that often goes along with eating healthy, Jeanne experimented with vegetables as a substitute for other ingredients in their favorite foods. Her two best creations were the cauliflower sandwich thins/tortillas and cauliflower pizza crust, since they allowed Jeanne and Dan to once again enjoy sandwiches, burgers, tacos, lasagna (with the cauliflower pizza crust substituted for lasagna noodles) and, best of all, pizza without the carb effects. They are excited to be able to provide these delicious plant-based substitutes for three of America’s favorite comfort foods.
As someone born and raised in New Orleans, I grew up with great tasting food. As a Mom of 4 boys, I am passionate about serving healthy meals to my family. As most of you know, making great tasting, healthy food has been a challenge – until now.
Outer Aisle Gourmet is recreating America’s favorite foods with vegetables – bread and pizza crust:
- “Bread” made with cauliflower
- “Pizza crust” made with cauliflower
Since our products are made with fresh vegetables, they are naturally low calorie, low carb, low fat, gluten-free and nut-free! On top of all the health benefits – our products taste delicious!
It is no secret that America has a weight problem. Over 2/3 of adults in the U.S. (144 million adults) are overweight and 1/3 are obese.
The solutions to the problem are well known. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans need to eat more vegetables, less sugar, and fewer high-energy-dense foods that are high in carbs and calories. In addition, they need to exercise more.
3 years ago, my husband and I were in the unhealthy 2/3 majority. At that time, we made a life-long decision to increase the vegetables and fruits in our diet and minimize the gluten, empty carbs, starches and sugars we consumed – back to the basics. However, as a result of this choice, we found we were deprived of many of our favorite foods. But no longer!
With Outer Aisle’s Cauliflower Sandwich Thins, we are able to once again enjoy a sandwich, and, at the same time, know that we are eating vegetables. Our pizza crust is delicious and also made from vegetables.
With Outer Aisle, finding gluten-free foods with low carbs and clean ingredients is no longer a challenge.
