Ingredients:

• 4-6 oz steak (any cut works)

• 1 small onion, diced

• 4-5 mushrooms, thinly sliced

• 1 tbsp butter

• 1-2 tsp balsamic vinegar

• 1 tsp of salt, plus a pinch for the veggies

• 1/2 tsp pepper, plus a pinch for the veggies

• 2 Sandwich Slices per sandwich (Original or Italian)

• 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard

• 1/2 tbsp mayonnaise

• 1-2 slices of Swiss cheese

Instructions:

1. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until hot, then add the steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your preferred doneness.

2. Transfer the cooked steak to a cutting board to rest. In the same skillet, add a drizzle of oil or butter if needed, followed by the diced onions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften and become translucent.

3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet along with a pat of butter. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, letting the mushrooms brown and absorb the flavors from the pan. Stir in a splash of balsamic vinegar, a pinch of salt, and pepper, and cook for 1-2 more minutes.

4. While the onions and mushrooms finish cooking, prepare your sandwich base by spreading a blend of Dijon mustard and mayo on one Sandwich Slice. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on one slice and toast both slices in a clean skillet over medium heat until the cheese begins to melt.

5. Thinly slice the rested steak. Open the toasted Sandwich Slices and layer on the steak, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. Close the sandwich and enjoy!
